Malaysia, known as a conservative, mainly-Muslim country, will see sex education implemented in schools next year as the government tries to battle sex crimes and Internet porn, according to a report in the New Straits Times.
The sex education classes will begin at pre-school level where children are aged 4-6 years old. If the programme is approved by the Malaysian cabinet, the classes will be launched in February next year.
The Education Minister said in the news report that "We are faced with various forms of sexual crimes: Internet pornography, incest, pre-marital sex, sexual abuse and harassment and paedophilia," and the issues would be dealt with in the classes.
